LEF’s newcomer settlement services (Immigrant Settlement Adaptation Program) was launched in 2008 as a result of community demand. While LEF has served the newcomer community for 30 years, the need for a broad-based service was clear.
Our program provides social supports, in particular coping with separation from family and challenges of integrating into a new country. We do this by helping people navigate the various systems in Canada, access services, bridge language barriers and we support those struggling with lack of recognition of foreign credentials.
With the launch of this program, we were able to take work that we were doing and formalize it to better meet the needs of local newcomers. For more information about workshops and programs we offer click on the workshops tab in the navigation menu or contact us at 416-769-0830.
