Programs: BAM - Bicycle Assembly and Maintenance

» Bike Shop Virtual Tour

If you love to ride, want to build a career as a qualified bike mechanic, or just want to learn more about your bike, The Learning Enrichment Foundation’s Bicycle Assembly and Maintenance (BAM) program is your path to a growing and thriving industry.

In February 2009, LEF launched our own bicycle shop and training program with support from Rob and Ted White of Outdoor Gear Canada, volunteers, and the bicycle industry. The program began out of the industry’s growing need for skilled bike mechanics. We now have one of the largest bicycle repair shops in Canada and a one-of-a-kind program.

The BAM program is the first course of its kind recognized by the Canadian bicycle industry. The eight-week program is certified and supported by the Bicycle Trade Association of Canada as well as approved under the 'Private Career Colleges Act, 2005' . There is also growing support from industry and retail businesses that include, Norco Canada, Outdoor Gear Canada, Chain Reaction Bikes, Dukes Cycle and Z&M Cycles, just to name a few.

The program provides mechanical theory and opportunities to hone your skills as you rebuild and assemble new and used bicycles, which are then made available for sale. Upon successful completion of the seven-week course, you begin a one-week placement working in a bicycle shop.

The following certificates are issued upon achieving a passing mark:

  • WHMIS
  • First Aid
  • Health & Safety
  • Bicycle Assembly and Maintenance
