Learning Enrichment Foundation

Director of Partnerships

Employment Terms: permanent | full Time

About LEF:

The Learning Enrichment Foundation (LEF) is a not-for-profit charity (with a social enterprise mindset) which provides a multidisciplinary and holistic set of supports for members of our community including those who are: in transition, new to Canada, out of the workforce, and a host of other individual circumstances. We currently knit together Settlement Services, Child Care, Employment Supports, Skills Training, and Language Training. We will shortly be adding housing to our Quilt.

For over 40 years, it is through supporting and empowering individuals and families, (indeed the community as a whole) that we achieve our goals.

LEF is a continuously growing organization and as such, any candidate hired into this position should find opportunities for a rewarding career with opportunities for personal and professional growth. Within LEF, we value on-going learning for our teams. All members are provided professional learning opportunities to build and foster their skills, and to promote the leadership skills in others.

Job Summary:

As LEF continues to grow and works to be even more responsive to the communities we serve, the number and depth of our partnerships grows as well.

We have many types of partnerships and each needs constant nurturing, each represents a development opportunity for our front-line staff, each has the potential to further our 4 strategic goals: (1) Responsive Growth (2) Sharing our knowledge (3) Equitable Economy (4) Strengthen LEF for scaling.

Many have the potential for future revenue generation in partnership.

This job is very unique and will attract, we think, a wide range of candidates. Please… Don’t apply if you are figuring out how to leave a legacy. Don’t apply if you see yourself as a spokesperson. Don’t apply if day to day grunt work annoys you.

Do apply if you think you can support our staff in leveraging the gifts and talents of our strong and resilient community.

Do apply if you are open to supporting smaller organizations to develop the tools and policies that will enable them to become strong, resilient, and independent.

Do apply if you believe in the importance of neighbourhood groups and that their vision for the future of their community should drive change. Be ready to support LEF staff in learning how best we can support this myriad of priorities.

Finally, now that you have researched LEF, you have a sense of how unique and entrepreneurial we are. Do apply if you think you can bring that posture to this work. Better still, apply if you can show how you have done so in the past.

This is just the beginning – what we have indicated here is the surface of what is possible - there is much that can be done in this space.

Job Qualifications:

We are therefore looking for a strong networker, who is outcome driven, has humility and an openness to being vulnerable. Great people skills is a given, but all strong relationships are built on integrity and follow through, honesty and a sense of wonder and respect. This is a job for a doer, not a talker.

Experience:

  • Experience working in the not for profit sector in a Senior Management role for at least 5 years
  • Understanding and experience working with social enterprise type business
  • Experience in creation and follow through with Partnership Memorandums of Understanding
  • Prior experience working within a network both externally and internally to build practical collaboration and supports for the sector represented.
  • Creative thinker who doesn’t just see outside the box, but has the capabilities to build a new box.
  • Solid networking experience
  • Problem solver
  • Ability to create strategic plans, workplans and support those in the day to day implementations
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and dig into some day to day operations
  • Visionary with experience in creating something out of an idea/vision
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

A perfect candidate will have strong strategic skills and the tactical talent for building collaboration muscles throughout LEF. A deep understanding of the critical need for silo-busting that we all see. The vision and the strategies to do so – that is what we are looking for.
