Programs: Cooks Training

If you are passionate about food, love to cook for yourself and have always dreamed of preparing food for many people, the Cook’s Training program offered by the Learning Enrichment Foundation is designed just for you.

This seventeen-week program is approved under the ‘Private Career Colleges Act, 2005’. This program responds to the tremendous potential for employment in restaurants, hotels, health care institutions, schools and other food service businesses.

Under supervision of a Red Seal chef de cuisine, you will be taught the essential aspects of food handling and food preparation such as nutrition & sanitation, menu planning, soups & garnishes and bread, pastry and dessert making in small classes that allow for a great deal of individual attention and 385 hours of practical experience in the kitchen.

Certificates are issued upon achieving a passing mark:

  • Cook’s Training
  • Food handler,
  • WHMIS,
  • First Aid

In addition, students in the Cooks Training program will be giving back to the community while they learn.  In partnership with Second Harvest/Harvest Kitchen, LEF receives donations of food, which is prepared and turned into 500 meals for local recipient agencies.  During one seventeen-week program, students contribute over 20,000 meals to people in need.
