ECA for Newcomers

The Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) Training for Newcomers program is a 21-week course that supports newcomers with intermediate English language skills to gain employment in the expanding Child Care sector.

This program is instructed in English and includes ECA skills training, ECA Occupation-Specific Language Training (OSLT), and two work placements in the childcare field. It is held online and in person.

Participants will have the opportunity to work with an experienced instructor and childcare staff that have a long history in the childcare field.

Eligibility

This program is designed for the following individuals:

  • CLB 5-7
  • Must be a recipient of Ontario Works
  • Eligible to work in Ontario
  • Fully vaccinated as per public health guidelines

What will participants receive?

  • WHIMIS
  • Standard First Aid - CPR Level C-AED
  • Food Handler Certificate
  • LEF Early Childhood Assistant Certificate
